What to See at the Toronto Luminato Festival
Toronto is a vibrant city where a number of colorful festivals take place throughout the year. A festival that attracts art lovers from far and wide is the Luminato Festival of Arts and Creativity. This year, the festival has been scheduled to be held from June 13 to June 23. It will be a gala event where creative artists from Canada and around the world showcase their best work. If you are a lover of creative arts, then you should make a point to be there when the festivities begin.
Here are some of the great events you should see during the 10-day festival:
Live performances: Live performances by many renowned Canadian and foreign singers, rappers, bands and DJs will take place every day at [The Hub. This year’s artists include popular Toronto singer/songwriter Serena Ryder, Jamaican born Canadian rapper k.or, and world famous Montreal-based DJ Kid Koala.

Theatre: If you love plays, musicals and operas, then you will get the chance to see some of the finest performances you have ever seen at various venues across the city. This year, you will get to see The Daisy Theatre, The Life and Death of Marina Abramovich and the Chinese opera Feng Yi Ting. All three are veritable works of art that will mesmerize you.
Dance: Don’t miss your chance to experience beautiful and entertaining performances by world famous dancers. This year’s performances to watch are Dance Lhasa Danse by the Canadian singer/songwriter Lhasa de Sela and LAllegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato, a dazzling performance that is a beautiful blend of dance, music, and poetry.
Education: Throughout the festival, there will be innovative educational shows that are designed to teach students art, dance, and culinary skills through active participation. The programs scheduled for this year’s Luminato event include the L’Allegro Movement Project, Future Tastes of Toronto: At the Kids’ Table, School Days and Luminato Portraits: An Art on the Move Project.
Magic: Amazingly entertaining and awe-inspiring magic shows are scheduled each day around the city.
